Angel Rebolloso was the heartbeat of the local Blick Art Materials store. She helped me obtain a trial set of unusual acrylic paints, which played a role in my return to Creative Life. My Renaissance, so to speak.
Angel didn’t know me, but ransacked her storeroom in my behalf and emerged with a free sample kit of the acrylic paints I sought – the last remaining kit from an in-store product demonstration. In return, I promised to give her the first decent painting to come out of my experiments with those paints.
Months later I walked into the store and handed Angel this painting. It’s just 10×10″ and although she remembered my promise, I think she was surprised to see me actually deliver on it. =D The painting symbolizes Angel’s Mexican-American heritage and expresses my appreciation for her kindness and friendship. Not long after, Angel left the Blick store and I moved out of state. I haven’t seen her since but I’m sure this painting hangs in a place of prominence in her home, and is a reminder that what goes around comes around.
